Today at my day off, i spend my spare time mostly in the Carribean Sea(close to our lodge). Besides Danny and Huub, also Martijn, Mathieu and Dakota were enjoying their day off under the hot sun of Costa Rica. At the beginning, we were very carefull because the sharks and the marine debris. But after all, we were still alive and have entertain ourselves in the warm water of the Carribean. After the swim, we finished our day in two cosy bars in the village of San Fransisco.

I was starting the first workday of the week with Martijn to study the butterflies of Cano Palma.
After this, i have visited the community of San Fransisco for the first time to help Diana with teaching and educate the children about nature and also the english language. The children taught me also something like some spanish words and sentences(difficulto):p.
After a nice afternoon with the children, i went on snake census that evening. It was a big experience for me especially because you watched the jungle from the different side(the night). We saw some animals which you should never encounter during the day like snakes, spiders and many amphibians. One snake was caught that evening.

After a goodnight, i start my wednesday in the community again to spend some energy in games like baseball and "hide and seek(verstoppertje)" and spend our concentration in reading some books and making some puzzles(woordzoeker & riddle). After a nice afternoon with the children, i did the turtlenight survey with Jimena and Martijn. During each turtlesurvey we are monitoring four turtles like the leatherback, green, hawksbill and the loggerhead turtle. All these turtles are nesting on Playa Norte(beach). Besides the turtles, We monitoring also the turtlenests and tracks of seaturtles which in most of the times lead to the nest itself. Unfortunately, we found no turtles after that night:(.

On thursday, I had some spare time in the morning because the Nightsurvey the night before. In the afternoon i went on my own batsurvey with Huub. After this, i made myself ready for the second nightsurvey this week. We were hoping to see some seaturtles this time because the turtleseason has already started for 3 weeks. While walking on the beach these night, we saw a track which looked like a bulldozer. Luckily it wasn't. It was a track of a real Leatherback turtle which led to a turtlenest! The Leatherback is one of the biggest seaturtles of the world and this prehistorical reptiles are already living around 100 million years on this beautiful earth. 'Hard work pays off' after alll these days searching for seaturtles.

I woke up with a great feeling about the night before. I began my day in the afternoon with the batsurvey on a local hill called the "Cerro Tortuguero" for Huub's project. During this survey, it was the first time we saw the little Honduran White Bats which were hanging under some heliconia leaves. After the batsurvey, we were having dinner in the city of San Fransisco. Unfortunately, I did enjoy my taco too much that i forget to go on Caimansurvey that eve. That was a pitty and it was stupid of me.

It is the day of the jokes. I began this day in the community at 8.30. We played baseball again and i was teaching the children some english words. The english language is very important for the community of San Fransisco because the increased tourism in this little village. After the community, i started my afternoon on the Cerro Tortuguero to do my batsurvey with Huub and my bravest friend Costrosa(dog). After the big climb on the Cerro, we were celebrating the saturday with Huubs delicious pancakes which were covered with sugar. After this dinner, we finished the day at a local bar to play some pool and get some beer. We also meet our two best friends of the village of San Fransisco. During our walk back home, we encounter a little friend which is not so cute as it looks like(scorpion).
